(1) Ordinary glass
Emerald green, brittle, low transparency, easy to age and deform under rain exposure. Try not to use it for making fish tanks.
(2) Float glass
Production process of transparent float glass: glass paste enters the tin bath through a control gate. After it floats on the surface of the molten tin due to the action of gravity and its own surface tension, it enters the gradually cooling bath to make the glass smooth and even on both sides and the ripples disappear. Dark green, smooth surface without ripples, good transparency, and certain toughness. It is recommended to use it.
(3) Tempered glass
Tempered glass is a high-strength safety glass obtained by heating the glass to the softening point and then rapidly cooling it by air. Under the same thickness, the bending strength of tempered glass is 4 to 5 times higher than that of ordinary glass, and the impact strength is 5 times higher than that of ordinary glass. The thermal stability of tempered glass is extremely strong, and it can withstand severe temperature changes without damage. The biggest feature of tempered glass is safety. This kind of glass is broken into honeycomb-like particles, which can avoid harm to the human body. Note: The tempered glass cannot be cut, drilled, slotted, etc. Because the glass is broken into honeycomb-like particles, it is completely irremediable, so it is not recommended for use in aquariums.
(4) Acrylic glass
It is a glass material between organic glass and ordinary glass. It was originally used in airplanes. Most of the early curved acrylic fish tanks also used acrylic glass. It is light in weight and has strong toughness. It needs to be made in one piece.
(5) Organic glass
PMMA, commonly known as organic glass, is an important thermoplastic that was developed earlier. It has good transparency, chemical stability, easy dyeing, and easy processing. But the strength is low, except for some small acrylic fish tank (boxes), it is generally not used in aquariums.
The full name is silicone glass glue. There are many varieties of glass glue on the market, including acid glass glue, neutral weather-resistant glue, silicic acid neutral structural glue, silicone stone glue, neutral anti-mildew glue, insulating glass glue, special glue for aluminum-plastic panels, special glue for aquariums, special glue for large glass, special glue for bathroom mildew, acid structural glue, etc. Special glue for aquariums is generally rare, so generally please use imported glue, followed by high-quality glass glue for acrylic fish tank. (1) Edge grinding
Grind edge cuts of glass which is cut to an appropriate size until it is smooth, beautiful and non-hazardous. It is processed with a special glass edging machine, and the general incision will be ground in a 45-degree chamfered shape.
(2) Bracing
In order to prevent the water pressure from causing the tank body to deform and leak or rupture after the acrylic fish tank is filled with water, a method of local reinforcement of the edge is adopted, which is also made of glass and is generally used on the upper and bottom edges of the tank body.
